The growth
in e-learning and online learning has increased dramatically in the last
10 years in school districts and institutions of higher education. The
movement into online education and e-learning has resulted in a significant
need for practitioners who can knowledgeably take a lead in these efforts (e.g., teachers and instructors, instructional designers and technologists,
and administrators).

Portland
State is meeting this need through a 15-quarter credit/noncredit, online
certificate of completion program. At the conclusion of the program, participants
will be able to:

  • Analyze
    e-learning needs

  • Apply
learning theory, instructional theory, and system theory in the design,
development, delivery, evaluation, and maintenance of e-learning programs

  • Lead and
    manage e-learning technology teams

  • Manage
    online training/distance learning organizations and
    e-learning technology projects

  • Provide
timely advice on current and emerging technologies
